Micro cap stocks have the get rich quick allure. Even a small gain on a small cap stock can mean making it rich with very little money. Some of the greatest stocks on the market today were once micro cap stocks, including Microsoft (MSFT), Wal-Mart (WMT), and Apple (AAPL). The big question is whether or not micro-cap investment really pays off.

Many micro cap stocks suffer from a wide array of problems, such as insufficient funding, brand recognition issues, no financial reporting, not enough share volume, and many other problems. Since most micro cap stocks are traded on either the Pink Sheets or the OTCBB, and those markets do not regulate company and financial reporting, the information needed to make a good stock pick is often either not present or it is incorrect. Picking the right micro cap stock can be like picking a needle out of a haystack. There is also the risk that the company will go out of business, leaving you with losing all of your money.

The basic premise of playing the stock market is risk versus reward. The best investment moves are made when the risk versus reward is properly balanced. In the micro cap market, the risk is very high, while the reward is also very high. It is estimated that only 10 percent of micro cap stocks make any money, while the rest lose money. To put that into perspective, the average ratio of getting a winning scratch ticket is one in three. The chances of choosing a winning micro cap stock are only one in ten. Since the odds are against making any money from a micro cap stock, it is wise not to base your investment portfolio on these stocks.

Any micro cap stock investment should be treated as a gamble and you should be willing to accept that all of the invested money may be lost entirely. The key to investing in micro cap stocks is to choose stocks that have a large trading volume so that you can sell the stocks. It is important to invest in companies that properly report their financial information so that you can make an educated stock pick. Choose a stock that also has proven itself to be reliable. A micro cap stock should be on the market for at least one year before considering it as a stock pick. The stock should not be unstable. The charts for the stock should not bounce all over the place wildly. By using these tips, you can improve your chances of making a good stock pick.

How to make your house Wheelchair available. Very well the first thing to ascertain is the peak you will possess.

RAMP by PINOY PHOTOGRAPHER

When the time has come to adapt or design your household for wheelchair and scooter access, you'll be happy to learn that dealers offer many different types of scooter and wheelchair ramps. Once you begin your research, however, the options are endless and certainly confusing. Indeed, from portable ramps to fixed ramps, suitcase ramps, wheelchair ramps, track ramps, and more, the possibilities are infinite and each carry a significant advantage and disadvantage.

Where to start? Check out this Basic Primer on Wheelchair, Scooter and Power Chair Ramps for Your Home. Sure to make the decision making a little easier as you adapt or design your home for accessibility to wheelchairs, scooter or other heavy equipment.

Portable vs. Fixed Scooter and Wheelchair Ramps

Before you make your purchase, you'll need to determine whether you want a "portable" or "fixed" ramp. What's the difference between the two? Plenty.

Portable and folding ramps for wheelchairs, scooters, and power chairs are designed for a variety of purposes, like loading into the side door of a passenger van, onto steps or porches, or anywhere else you may need to load. Portable ramp systems are built to fold up and can be carried much like a suitcase and the good ones are designed to separate into two pieces for lighter weight and easy carrying. Portable ramps are designed to help facilitate transfers in multiple locations and presume that the users need something that's rather flexible to account for multiple uses or destinations.

Fixed ramps, on the other hand, are stationary and help the user access barriers like steps and elevations in the home, office or other setting. Threshold and door wheelchair ramps can help facilitate passage over small barriers. Indeed, even a one inch barrier can present difficulties for users of manual and power wheelchairs. Rubber, plastic and aluminum threshold ramps make access easier for everyone in the family.

Another example of a fixed ramp is a pathway ramp. Its extra wide design makes it ideal for persons using electric scooters, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, or crutches in a home setting. Often, a pathway ramp is equipped with railings making it an ideal solution to facilitate access to the home. The best fixed ramps are all-aluminum modular wheelchair ramps. While they can be quite expensive, they're ideal for the home and usually ADA compliant. Some systems can be permanently installed or attached to your home or other structure. These ramps and systems are perfect for long-term and high traffic use.

Wooden Ramps for Home or Business

Wooden ramps are by far the most popular fixed ramp in use in America today. A licensed contractor or certified carpenter or handyman can be hired to assemble or construct a ramp for you and your family. Get several bids before you agree to have the work done on your home.

Do Your Research Before You Buy or Lease

Wheelchair, scooter and power chair ramps and systems can be quite expensive. It's best to consult a professional in advance of investing in a ramp or ramp system, even if it's covered by Medicare, Medicaid, personal insurance or other funds. You want to make sure that the ramp you choose is appropriate for the amount of usage and weight of the equipment you have. You want to make sure the ramp is safe, effective and addresses your personal needs, now and well into the future.

You also want to make sure that you've taken into account several factors, like safety, security, weather conditions, and more. You want to explore how best to assemble the equipment and what to do in case of repair. You want to purchase or lease this equipment through a reputable dealer or provider. By talking with a professional you can get a sense of what's available to you and most appropriate for your home or business at this time.

Where To Purchase?

You can build, buy or lease a ramp. Do your research before making an investment in this equipment. Shop around for deals and discounts. Check online to get a sense of each product and its advantages or downsides. Consult a disability specialist or contractor for ideas on ramps and systems that might be best for you and your family. There are also design specialists who can assist you with making sure the ramp you build or install blends nicely with your home design and landscaping. The character Crazy Eyes in the film "Mr. Deeds" comments that "I watch the stock market channel all the time." The character distrusts the host of the channel and suspects that others are falling for false information, but Crazy Eyes is not as gullible. Watching programming may not help your stock picks, but knowing a little about the history of the stock market might improve your odds for investments. The stock market has offered a place for legal speculation since 1792 and it has a strong lure for many investors who may or may not know a few interesting facts about its history.

Origins

The Buttonwood Agreement of 1792 established the foundation for the modern day stock market in the United States. The earliest firms created government bonds and bank stocks the same year. The New York Stock Exchange formally organized in 1817 with just 24 brokerage firms with two open trading sessions that included reading the stock offerings on a public floor of a local Wall Street coffee house. The Dow Jones Industrial Average started business in 1896. The NASDAQ, a stock exchange based on electronic transfers, opened for trading in 1971 and this exchanged combined with the American Stock Exchange in 1998. The Philadelphia Exchange merged with the NASDAQ in 2007.

Great Depression Regulation

After the problems of margin buying and lending that contributed to the Great Depression in the United States during the 1920s and 1920s, the federal government passed the Securities Act in 1933 to regulate practices that contributed to fraud and poor economic planning. The act set up a federal disclosures and registered new stock issues. The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 added controls over fraudulent practices and disclosure and established the Securities and Exchange Commission to oversee the new regulations.

Index and Mutual Fund Trading

Stocks are not the only item traded on the stock exchange. The market also trades mutual and index funds. Massachusetts Investors Trust presented the first offerings of mutual funds in 1924, and the Wellington Fund combined stocks and bond offerings in 1928. Wells Fargo Bank established the first index fund in 1971 that allowed creation of stock market offerings by The Vanguard Group soon after the index creation.

Market Closings

Stock market closings correspond to world events. The longest closing of the New York Stock Exchanged happened July 31, 1914 during World War I when the war sent stock prices plunging. The market remained closed for a time and operated on limited hours for over four months. The market closed again in March 1933 in a "Bank Holiday" to stabilize trading during the Great Depression. President John F. Kennedy's death November 22, 1963 closed the market for the day. Trading stopped for four days after the bombing of the New York World Trade Center September 11, 2001.

The Best and the Worst Decades "The Wall Street Journal" claims investors during the 1950s saw the best returns on money invested in the stock market. The decade of 2000 marked the worst period of investment, even when the decade of the Great Depression is included. Financial reporter Tom Lauricella notes that, "Investors would have been better off investing in pretty much anything else, from bonds to bold or even just stuffing money under a mattress."

History as a Modern Investment Indicators

1. Poor Markets Include Prime Times for Investments.

The Great Depression of the 1930s included prime times for investors. The period from July 1932 through July 1933 recorded the Dow Jones Industrial Average's best year, marking a gain from 41.22 in July and increasing to 105.04 almost to the day a year later.

2. Low Risk Entrance Points Occur Regardless of Market Conditions.

The Bear Market of 1929 through 1932 provided investors a chance to enter the market with low amounts of capital. Modern investors have had similar investment opportunities, including such options as purchasing General Motors stock at bargain basement prices in 2008.

Know how to invest in the stock market through http://www.hotstockprofits.com/ by bbrij873

One of the worst things which can happen to an investor is for them to lose their shirt. If you buy into a blue chip stock one day when it's trading around $50.00 and then you turn your monitor off for a few days before you notice your stock is trading at $5.00, you would be furious. You've lost 90% of your money. If you've invested in 1000 shares at $50.00, well I don't need to tell you, you don't quite have that same amount of money anymore. The roller coaster of investing makes most traders stomachs turn. Ask anyone who was on the floor buying up soon-to-be worthless shares of Fannie Mae in 2007 when the stock was trading at stellar highs of $65; two very rough years later the stock was trading at $.40.

For the blue chip investor these last few years have been unlike any others. For the penny stock investor though these type of swings are just par for the course. Penny stocks will lurch and leap and stall and croak and make investors mad as heck and then joyous from their giddy ether.

In penny stock investing you are talking about untested shares, generally; stock whose worth hasn't yet been determined and could go either way. Penny stock investing is risky for reasons beyond just that the security hasn't proven itself over the long term. Penny stocks are also stocks of companies who are trying to raise a lot of capital. Selling shares of stock is one of the best ways for a company with real intrinsic worth to raise this money. What often happens in penny stocks though is that this new product or service will overvalue it's worth at least in the beginning and there will be a decided spike followed by a slow drift downward.

If you are an investor who happened to buy in on the upswing you are holding onto all the shares of this company you can; trying to get more. If you were lucky enough to get in at the bottom and sell off before the downward momentum carried itself all the way out, then you have made your money and you are good. Generally though what happens is that the euphoria over a stock catches on and people pile in.

"Oh wow! A new way to manufacture old widgets! Brilliant!" Then when the euphoria dies down, the hangover begins.

American Scientific Resources (ASFX*) is one such stock that I've invested in which has taken me up and down the roller coaster. I first got into ASFX in September 2009. ASFX was trading around eight tenths of a penny. I got in over the course of several days between $.0072 and $.0098 for forty thousand shares. All in all my investment was $320. ASFX then went on a tear. I piled in with more shares actually increasing my average share buy-in as I picked up another 10,000 shares on September 28, 2009 when ASFX was trading at $.0245.

ASFX traded all the way up to $.08. I had an exit price which was never reached. Then ASFX began the slow drib downwards. Many investors never got out; holding onto these shares that they may have bought on the way up and it's hard to look at your account one day and say, "Well these 50,000 shares which were worth $4000 last week are worth $1000 today.

ASFX currently trades between $.0045 and $.005 but there is reason for hope if you are a shareholder as the company has recently finalized some deals.

Another problem with penny stock is the same as the first; this is a new company and they need money. So what penny stocks will often do is issue new shares! Issuing new shares to market is a great way to bring in new investors but this issuance is generally seen as a bad thing by legitimate investors or at least a reason to stay away for now. Then the value plummets because there are too many shares and not enough demand and you're heading down, down, down.

One such instance happened for my portfolio on 11/24/2010 when Solos Endoscopy (SNDY) did a 1000/1 reverse split. I only had 10,000 shares and these were bought at something of a peak but this reverse split really killed me. Today I have 10 shares of SNDY which sit in my account at -99.95% of their original purchase price. Even if I sold them it would cost me more money to execute the trade than those 10 shares are worth. I will hold onto these shares in the hopes that they do a forward split one day and the value rises. At the very least I can take the losses on my income taxes one year to help offset gains.

Of course penny stock investing has also made a few rich folks out of many. Imagine buying 10,000 shares of Microsoft when it was trading in the penny word in the 1980's? You may have had to wait a few years for the payoff but if you'd have bought in the troughs and sold at the peak it would have been a sweet payoff indeed.

Using online stock stockbrokers for you to business stocks

August-12-2009-trade by MyTradingCareer

Options trading has been the centre of much debate of recent years. Is options trading dangerous? Can we go bankrupt on Options Trading? Indeed, options as a form of derivative instrument is far more complex than the stocks that they are written based on and, like a wild stallion, can hurt you if you do not understand how it works and how to use it properly.

This brings us to the topic of this article.

In this article, I shall present 5 reasons why options trading is actually better than stock trading in order to dispel the age old myths of how dangerous options trading is. Let's remember this: Options trading is dangerous only when you do not understand it.

1) Variable Leverage

The leverage that options trading give you is perhaps the main reason why people gravitate to options trading in the first place. Leverage is the ability to do more with the same amount of money. Trading options allows you to make a lot more profit on the same move on the underlying stock. When you buy the stock itself without margin, you are merely making 1% profit on a 1% move in your favor. However, in options trading, you could be making 10% profit on that same 1% move the stock made or even up to 100% on that same 1% move!

Yes, the beauty of leverage in options trading, unlike in futures trading, is that it is VARIABLE!

Leverage in options trading is variable, you could take on more leverage for more risk or lesser leverage for lesser risk by choosing options of different strike prices and/or expiration month. In general, the more out of the money options, the higher the leverage and the more in the money options, the lower the leverage.

Leverage cuts both ways. This is why the beauty of leverage in options trading is that it allows you to do the same trades with much lesser money, as such, you could simply use only money you can afford to and intend to lose in any failed trade for each options trade so leverage actually help you control your losses instead!

2) Low Capital Requirement

Apple Inc. , AAPL, is trading at $295.36 today which means it takes $29,536 to buy 100 shares today. However, AAPL's at the money call options costs only something like $715 to control the profits on that same 100 shares of Apple!

3) Bet Downwards Without Margin

In order to profit from a downwards move on a stock in stock trading, you could only short the stock which incurs margin. However, in options trading, all you need to do in order to bet on a stock going downwards is to BUY its put options with no margin needed at all. That's right, buying put options for profit to downside works exactly the same as buying call options for profit to upside. There is no need to own the stock beforehand and there is no need for margin!

4) Multi-Directional Profits

In stock trading, you only profit when the stock goes in the direction you want it to. Upwards when you buy the stock or downwards when you short the stock. There is no way to profit in both scenarios simultaneously and there is no way to profit if the price of the stock does not move. However, in options trading, such multi-directional profits are possible! There are options strategies that allows you to profit no matter if the stock goes upwards or downwards quickly and there are options strategies that profits even if the price of the stock remains unchanged! Such is the real magic of options strategies which greatly increases your chances of winning in options trading versus stock trading!

5) Play Banker

Sick and tired of always being at the player's side of the table? In options trading, you could switch instead to the banker's side of the table and do what market makers do by selling options to people who are wants to take the side of the player! When the players lose, as they often do, you get to keep the bet as profit just like a real banker! Only options trading has the "bet" which you get to keep and it is known as "extrinsic value".

As you can see by now, options trading is indeed far more powerful and safe than stock trading if you do it correctly. To learn more about what you can do with options, visit our Options Trading website at Optiontradingpedia.com .
